As I read the family email updates concerning Granny W's declining health (Mycol's grandmother, now with hospice), what really impresses me is the very same thing that has been so vitally important since the day Mycol came into my life: the closeness of this family.
Granny's children take turns with her in the nursing home, so someone is there every day. All are strongly committed to this routine and when one has a schedule conflict, they switch days with another.
Uncle Jim wrote, "Mom is pretty close to her celebration time. Please keep her in your prayers that God will give Mom the peace and calmness that He gives as He prepares to bring her home."
In these days when its easy to just give up and walk away when one's feelings get stepped on, to witness the commitment of real love in a family like this is something I will treasure forever, and will always be thankful.
