Brother Jim's surgery went well. Doctors removed about nine inches of colon and the lower lobe of his liver, and grabbed the appendix while they were there.
I don't know much yet about further treatment, but I believe he will begin that after some recuperation time from surgery.
Brother Jim says he's not concerned about the outcome, as he knows where he's going. So he asks for prayer for his family; his wife, Vicky, and his children and grandchildren, that no matter what, they will have peace. In fact, Rusty told me that as I would expect, Brother Jim had a very different perspective regarding his surgery.
Monday night on his way to the hospital he insisted they stop at a donut shop, which they did and he purchased 3 dozen donuts for visitors to enjoy while he was in the operating room. The family waiting room had somewhere around 25 people waiting on the out come. They had a party.
Later when they put him in a room, there were so many visitors the hospital began enforcing their “one visitor at a time” rule, and then restricted it to “one family member in the room”, because Bro. Jim would not settle down; they said he was entertaining everyone who came to his “grand opening” (which is the way he addressed it Sunday morning during his time in the pulpit.)
Brother Jim continues to lead, a true pastor in the literal sense, even in these circumstances. The path he set for all concerned is very different from what most people would choose. He sets a great example. For my blog readers who do not know Brother Jim, this is one remarkable man, and if you met him, I promise, you'd love him.
