Stinson Field is the second oldest general aviation airport in the U.S. Here are a few pix from our trip there.
There's an old phrase among general aviation pilots - going out for the "hundred dollar hamburger". To make it look like an excuse to fly, lots of folks like to fly to an air field with a restaurant on or near the field. Some places have courtesy cars and if there's a place to eat a few miles away one can take a courtesy car there. There's even a book published annually called "The Hundred Dollar Hamburger". Rather than buy the book though, I just signed up online and now have access to all the restaurants on and near airfields throughout the country, complete with ratings and commentary by other pilots.
All this to say... last weekend Mike and I picked one out - Stinson Field, just south of San Antonio. The restaurant is at the base of the tower, but its not a hamburger joint, its Mexican food. We had a great time flying there, discovering a "new" airport, and the trip back.
I took a few pix of the airport area and Mike got some shots while I was flying.
