Although Myles seems to be feeling better, his blood counts have dropped again so they are re-testing for the strep/staph infection that got into his central line - infection is always a risk with having a central line - and if it's still in the line then they'll remove the line and probably put in a port.
Angie has been faced with a tough decision. There is a medication called GCSF which would kill the strep/staph infection - a very dangerous infection for him - but the medication carries a small risk of him developing leukemia. Being that Myles always gets whatever is the least likely and most dangerous and least common ailment, she was very concerned about making this decision.
Myles's doctor at Duke suggested that the risk of staph was much more severe than the risk of leukemia and that he should get the medication, so he is supposed to start on it today or tomorrow.
