My teammates were an optometrist, who came with a couple of cases of donated eyeglasses, three pastors, a missions-minded couple – the husband is a musician and the wife has her own personal story of hope to share, and a Dula. I had to learn what a Dula is – its kind of like a midwife, but she doesn’t do the physical delivery stuff. She’s more of a patient advocate, but stays with the new mother during labor and delivery and gives her all the options, which often the doctors don’t do. The three media folks were the producer and host of the reality show, another camera man, and a still photographer, shooting photos for a book which ATC will publish on the people and the work being done in Africa.
