Okay, this is the coolest IMAX I've ever seen!!! Operation Red Flag. It's in Houston right now, through mid-August. For those of you not in Houston, if you have an IMAX around, hopefully it'll be showing. If you haven't seen it - GO SEE IT!
The movie follows one Air Force fighter pilot to the final part of his training, Red Flag, at Nellis AFB in Las Vegas, NV. Six countries participate in this exercise and it is as close to real combat as they can simulate. They say if a pilot can make it through his first 10 missions his chances of ultimate survival in combat situations increases 80%. Operation Red Flag provides those first 10 missions. They describe it as "the doctorate of Air Force combat training."
Just watching this on the screen is pretty intense. They show not only the pilots but the ground crew, mechanics, communcations people, and others involved. So... I highly recommend this movie. I'd go see it again and again!
