Hello again my friends! For those who come upon this blog and get a bit confused - sorry, I haven't figured out yet how to rearrange the photos once I've posted them, and they're not all in order. I'll try to work on that - when I have time... Meanwhile, the postings appear on the blog in reverse chron order, so if you want it all to make sense you have to start at the end and work your way up to the most recent post.
In other news... work on the book is going well. I have some good help and am open to other proficient readers who might like to review and comment (focus group).
I've been asked to return to Africa in August, this time for two weeks, and in addition to Maridi, Sudan, also to go into Gogrial, Sudan and into Congo. We will have more people in our group (and it looks like my dear friend, Robert, will be going with us - Yessssssss!!), so our charter flights may be in bigger planes where two crew are required. If that's the case I may not get to co-pilot in Africa again... :( One thing's for sure - I'll let ya know!
Speaking of flying - one more exam! My check ride will consist of about six hours of oral examination and about a one and a half to two hour flight. If I pass that, I'll have my private pilot's license. I am contemplating going on to learn instrument rating. Anthony says he believes I can do it. Oh, and if/when I do pass my check ride, you can bet there'll be one big party - complete with my Bro's brisket! If you've never had any of Rusty's brisket, well, you ain't lived!
Speaking of doing barrel rolls... (well we may not have spoken of it yet, but it was coming) ...I'll soon post some pics of my weekend jaunt to San Antonio with my wonderful friend, Mary. We went up in a hot air balloon and when the pilot asked what I thought of it, I said, "Honestly, I think this is boring." So he said I should try powrachuting. Well... the rest is history. He took me up in his powrachute and we did barrel rolls at about 1200' or so - what a blast!
